Dribbling Thru Comics Specialty Exhibit
The Lady Lions Girl’s Basketball organization, established in 1997 is one of the longest running girls only basketball programs in Maryland is collaborating with The Original Black Nerd Collection a celebration of Black superheroes through an extensive collection of comic books, graphic novels, action figures, Funko Pops, posters, and more for a unique fundraiser – Dribbling through Comics. The exhibit will celebrate both Black and Women’s month. The event will feature arts & crafts, cosplay characters, and trivia competitions. It will be held:

The Lady Lions are a program with Middle River Recreation. It consists of in-house and travel programs. The program has operated in Back River Community Center in Essex since 2001. Currently, over 65 K-8 girls participate. The program has produced many college and professional players.
The Original Black Nerd Collection with over 4,000 artifacts, including historical first appearance comic books, offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of Black characters in comics since the 1960s. One of the Collection’s specialty exhibits features only female characters. The exhibit will combine celebrations of both months.
A Journey Through Time:
The Original Black Nerd Collection invites visitors to embark on a journey through time, tracing the evolution of Black superheroes and their impact on popular culture. From the early pioneers to the contemporary trailblazers, this collection serves as a testament to the resilience and representation of Black characters in the world of comics and superheroes.
