    07/04/2024 05:00 PM 08/31/2024 07:00 PM America/Anguilla Jill Madden: ON THE ROCKS PAINTINGS FROM AQUIDNECK ISLAND The exhibition features new paintings by Newport native Jill Madden, who often starts her day before sunrise on the rocky coast of Aquidneck Island observing the transition from dark to dawn and twilight to night. The artist paints on site, setting her easel up on the vein of rocks known as Puddingstone a compressed volcanic quartz embedded in long granite slabs that are 250 million years old. Jessica Hagen states, “From Hanging Rock to Elephant Rock, Jill interprets the effects of light and climate upon this iconic piece of coastline for which Aquidneck Island is so loved.
