Clash of the Woyzecks, January 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, and 27 at Kleinhelter Gallery, New Albany

Based on a real story about a murder, Clash of The Woyzecks investigates the tension between truth and artifice, while attempting to explore the psychological pathways that could make life better for us all. Directed by artistic co-director, Martin French, this deconstruction of the original play by poet and playwright Georg Büchner marks The Chamber Theatre's opening production for its 2024 season. The play features actors Stephanie Hall, Ryan Lash, Marc McHone, Jake Minton, Jay Padilla-Hayter, and Bailey Preston. Clash of The Woyzecks is being hosted by the Kleinhelter Gallery, located in the 1858 historic Weinmann Building at 701 E. 8th Street, New Albany, IN, and will run for six performances - January 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27 at 7:30 p.m. Woyzeck’s mind is teeming with the challenge of determining what is real from what is possible. But is he or anyone else much more than a pawn in a game played by higher powers than he can imagine? Artistic Co-Director, and director of Clash of The Woyzecks, Martin French, says, “Woyzeck is an enigma, an unfinished and unordered play that is open to so many possible interpretations. I have been working on it in my mind for many years now, but this cast has found an entry point into the play.” Artistic Co-Director, and actor in Clash of The Woyzecks, Jay Padilla-Hayter, says, “Taking risks in the theatre is worthwhile, and I am excited, both as an Artistic Director and as an actor, to help bring this project to life. Formed in late 2015, The Chamber Theatre is a small independent non-profit theatre company with the goal of exploring the work of the best modernist dramatists through high-quality small-scale productions that are intimate, personal, and engage directly with the audience.
