DCCMF, in addition to gearing up for our amazing fourth season, is presenting a March concert we hope you can join us for!
"There and Back Again" explores the evolution from romanticism to expressionism, sharing works by Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, and the amazing early work of Arnold Schoenberg, his Chamber Symphony no. 1.
Early Schoenberg is a treasure many audiences don't know enough about. Before he became known for his use of the Twelve Tone Method and other avant-garde techniques, Schoenberg wrote captivating and emotionally gripping music, in a similar vein to the music of Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner. Who knows how many more late romantic treasures we may have had in the repertoire, had Schoenberg decided to stay on this path of expression.
Please join us on Thursday, March 13 at 7:30pm, at Comstock Hall, University of Louisville School of Music!
