Kentucky is home to immigrants, refugees, aid workers, and innovators whose stories stretch across the globe — and they’ll be telling them in five-minute talks at a Global Gathering on Thursday, October 2.
The event will be held from 6–7 p.m. in the community room of the Louisville Free Public Library Main Branch, 301 York Street. It is free and open to the public.
Hosted by the United Nations Association’s Louisville Chapter and Kentucky Division, the event highlights the many ways Kentuckians engage globally — from rebuilding lives after war and displacement, to teaching across cultures, to creating businesses rooted in international heritage.
“These stories show how Kentuckians are making powerful contributions beyond our borders,” said Rob Weber, president of the UNA-USA Kentucky Division. “We’re excited to launch our inaugural Global Gathering in Louisville with an evening that brings diverse voices together.”
Attendees will hear firsthand from Kentuckians whose experiences span the globe. Global Gathering speakers may include:
- Immigrants and refugees who have resettled in Kentucky and are shaping its future.
- Local educators, artists, and travelers who build bridges across borders.
- Humanitarian workers and innovators tackling crises overseas.
- Entrepreneurs and chefs bringing flavors and traditions from around the world.
The format is designed for energy and connection: no long lectures, just quick, compelling stories that reveal the global threads woven into Kentucky life.
