WKP presents Ben Jonson's The Alchemist
Ben Jonson's The Alchemist is a flurry of barbed wit and slapstick! Three clever grifters, posing as an alchemist and his household, exploit human desires in order to relieve Londoners of their cash and their self respect. And the Londoners are just like the folks we still find worthy of satire-- hypocrites, hedonists, quarrelers, to name a few. Will Kempe's Players follow "Original Practices--" fast-paced plots, audience-centered situations, clearly-spoken text--embodying the words in clear and clever action. into which audience is invited. The concerns of this play will not interest toddlers or younger children, but will entertain tweens, teens , and adults who llove wit and the active language of Shakespeare's and Jonson's England. Sit up close and lean in!
