Will Kempe's Players present Shakespeare's Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar is a political tragedy rooted in assassination and jostled by politicians and soldiers grasping at power. Shakespeare uses a spare language to bring us into the thoughts and desires of old men who don't want to lose power and the young men eager to supplant their elders. Simultaneously, we feel the pressures from the Roman citizenry and the from unsettling occurrences in nature. Will Kempe's Players approach this classic text with "Original Practices--" a style of playing that Will Shakespeare might recognize. We'll embody the text, use the poetry to create imaginary scenery, involve the audience, and challenge everyone. A play about men and battles, Julius Caesar is really not good for toddlers or little ones, but it is certainly suitable for older kids, tweens, teens and adults. Do we always have to take a side? If so, which side are you on?
