Will Kempe's Players present Ben Jonson's The Alchemist at Lionheart on the Green
Staged outside under the Lionheart's tent, WKP's production of The Alchemist invites the audience to play. Using features of the early modern production style--sharing space with an audience gathered on three "sides" of the performance, minimal scenery, sumptuous costumes, "universal" lighting, slapstick and wit, the perform sancepeeds to a rollicking conclusion. The performance takes about two hours and twenty minutes, including an intermission. Come early for drinks or Lionheart's inviting meals and snacks, The Alchemist is about foolish adults, and so the concerns and action would most interest teens and adults who love to laugh, especially those who like Shakespeare and want to explore the other English Renaissance voices.
