WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY: Federal Biologist Speaks on Future of Dunes Sagebrush Lizard
FREE EVENT: New Mexico Wildlife Federation's June "Wildlife Wednesday" event will feature Marilyn E. Wright, Ph.D., the lead US Fish and Wildlife Service biologist working on the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard. The federal agency recently designated the lizard as an endangered species. It lives exclusively in the Permian Basin, site of heavy oil and gas production. Future management must balance the lizard's needs against the rising energy production from the area, in far southeastern New Mexico and West Texas.
