Chicago, IL – September 11, 2024 – Why Not Petites (WNP), a Chicago-based modeling community dedicated to promoting inclusivity in the fashion industry by uplifting petite models, is thrilled to announce its debut in Chicago Fashion Week. The highly anticipated event, “Roaring Runway,” will take place on October 16th at Sarabande Chicago.
Continuing their legacy of sold-out shows, WNP’s “Roaring Runway” promises an unforgettable night of fashion inspired by the opulence and glamor of the Great Gatsby era. The event will feature local designers’ modern interpretations of the extravagant garments of the 1920s and an all-petite model lineup, proudly showcasing the often-overlooked talent of petite models in high fashion.

Unlike most fashion shows, WNP proudly supports the entrepreneurial aspect of the fashion industry and has decided to allow all designers the option to have their pieces available for purchase directly after the show.
Britney Wittes, the CEO and Founder of Why Not Petites, noted, “Our community at Why Not Petites is more than just a group of short models. We are deeply invested in the success of everyone involved in the fashion industry—models, designers, hair/makeup artists, photographers and more. We are committed to providing opportunities that not only help them pursue their dreams but also ensure they can achieve financial success.”
WNP’s “Roaring Runway” will be the organization’s first show presented in Chicago Fashion Week and will feature a stunning array of pieces that capture the essence of 1920s luxury curated by various local designers including:

Britney Wittes, who hand-picked all the designers, stated, “I selected each designer based on their experience with petite fashion or their passion for inclusivity. I wholeheartedly believe these designers deserve the opportunity to showcase their work and attract new supporters at an event like this.”
In preparation for the show, Why Not Petites teamed up with the Apparel Industry Board, Inc. (AIBI), the only official nonprofit in Illinois dedicated to supporting the sewn products industry. Their collaboration gives designers access to AIBI’s Fashion Lab, a specialized space equipped with industry-grade sewing machines and tools at a fraction of the cost, allowing creators of all skill levels to bring their designs to life.
“Our partnership with Why Not Petites embodies the mission behind the Fashion Lab,” said AIBI Executive Director, Ambar Campos. “Not everyone has the space or resources for the necessary equipment, and we’re proud to offer a safe, creative environment for designers to complete their work.”
