Whittwood Town Center, an open-air shopping center in Whittier, California (https://whittwoodtowncenter.shopkimco.com), invites the community to “Jolly Holidays,” the center’s sixth annual fun-filled, family-friendly tree lighting ceremony, on Saturday, November 11th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Center Courtyard. Following remarks from Whittier’s Mayor Joe Vinatieri, the center will light its magical Whittwood Christmas tree. The Friendly Grinch will kick off the festivities alongside a cast of holiday characters, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be escorted to the stage by the Whittier Fire Department (as long as no emergencies arise). Musical performances will include talented youth from Granada Middle School, the Advanced Band Wind Ensemble, the Rancho Starbucks Middle School Orchestra, and the Andrew J. Walen School Choir. The event will also feature hot chocolate and cookies and retailer giveaways (each while supplies last), illuminated entertainment, balloon and caricature artists, selfie opportunities, and meet-and-greets with strolling characters, including Santa and Mrs. Claus. New this year: a festive roaming magician and a Model T car photo op. This event is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required.
