Webster Groves Flag Spectacular - July 1–5

The Webster Groves Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is selling American flags with personalized markers to display on the front lawn of local Masonic Lodge #84, 12 E. Lockwood Ave., July 1–5. In addition, the community is welcome to attend a short commemorative ceremony at 9 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, at the site. Taking place during Community Days and America 250! celebrations, the “Flag Spectacular” honors American men and women who serve, or have served, in any U.S.-involved wars or conflicts from the American Revolution through present. The cost for a flag, marker, and placement on the lawn is $10. Each one may commemorate an individual or a group, and purchasers may collect their flags on July 5. A form is attached for your convenience. For more information and/or to purchase a flag, email [email protected]. Last year, volunteers placed 340 flags in front of the Masonic Lodge. So far this year, flags represent military members/patriots — past and present — from the American Revolution, Spanish-American War, War of 1812, American Civil War, Korean War, Vietnam War, Bosnian War, Afghanistan War, and stateside service. DAR is a national nonprofit service organization whose volunteers promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. All members are female descendants of American Revolution soldiers and patriots. Monthly chapter meetings are held locally, September through May.
