It’s a pizza farm! On August 26th Philadelphia’s oldest and largest co-op, Weavers Way, in collaboration with Awbury Farms will host a seasonal grilled pizza event featuring live music, tours of the grounds, cuddly animals to meet compliments of the Philly Goat Project, along with plenty of good memories. Enjoy the ambience of the farm while sampling all of Chef Bonnie Shuman’s creations and learning about where the ingredients come from. The family-friendly event will be held at Awbury Farm with adult tickets at $20 and kids at $7. Tickets are limited to 60 participants and pre-registration is required on Awburys website.
The seasonal pizzas using hyperlocal and sustainable ingredients include, but are not limited to, The Bitter Truth – grilled radicchio, Weavers Way Farm’s sautéed mustard greens, raisins anchovies, pine nuts and fontina; The Summer Squash – Weavers Way Farm’s corn, yellow squash, zucchini and basil with whipped ricotta and pumpkin seed; and the Papa Picanté – Martin’s Sausage pork chorizo, Weavers Way Farm’s Swiss Chard and roasted potato and Conebella Farm’s smoked and jalapeño cheddar cheese.
“I’ve been wanting to do these plant based, local produce pizza dinners for quite some time,” said Bonnie Shuman, Executive Chef, Weaver’s Way Co-Op. “Giving back to the communities we serve, and collaboration are at the heart of what we do and we hope people enjoy it as much as I do.”
