The War of the Worlds radio broadcast, directed by Orson Welles on October 30, 1938, was a dramatization of H.G. Wells’ novel. It was presented as a series of fake news bulletins simulating a Martian invasion of Earth targeting New Jersey. The realistic sound effects and presentation style led some listeners to believe it was an actual event and caused widespread panic despite announcements that it was a fictional play. The event remains one of the most famous examples of mass hysteria triggered by a radio broadcast.
ADMISSION: Admission to this performance is free, and tickets are not required. Enjoy!
