Experience the distinctive sound of Walter Parks, an acclaimed guitarist, singer, and storyteller whose original music and imaginative interpretations of traditional American roots music draw from the rich musical heritage of North Florida.
Inspired by the Okefenokee Swamp and the headwaters of the Suwannee River near where he grew up, Walter brings new life to the hollers, hymns, reels, and blues of early Southern homesteaders, blending historical music with his own contemporary sound. His research and performances exploring this musical heritage have been featured by the Library of Congress's American Folklife Center.
For more than a decade, Walter toured and recorded internationally as guitarist and musical partner to Richie Havens, performing at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, and the Glastonbury Festival. In 2014, he accompanied Judy Collins at Lincoln Center for her tribute to Pete Seeger.
Whether performing his original compositions or reimagining the music of generations past, Walter creates an engaging musical experience that connects America's musical roots with the present.
