Several community groups are sponsoring a nonpartisan/apolitical informational program on the upcoming August 4 election on Tuesday, July 28, at 7:00 p.m. at Kirkwood United Methodist Church, 201 West Adams. League of Women Voters speaker and member of AAUW St. Louis Branch Kathleen Farrell will explain the individual ballot issues. Voters will also be able to check their registration and pick up information on early voter sites and times and a LWV Voter Guide for the August election.
“Many people skip the primary elections, but people need to be aware of the important amendments on the August 4 ballot,” said Kirkwood-Webster Groves AAUW President Nancy Hutchins. Her Co-president Charlotte Parsons added, “Voting in all elections is important.”
The Kirkwood Social Justice Coalition is a co-sponsor of the event, and President Karen Coulson expressed her feelings, “Being an informed voter is required to protect democracy.”
The Faithbuilders class of KUMC, also an event sponsor, recognized the right to vote is an important human right outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 21.
Light refreshments will be served.
