Volunteer Day | Communities in Schools: Block Party

Join Young Professionals of Seattle as we volunteer to hand out school supply kits, backpacks and other items to historically marginalized students and their families at the Communities in Schools 6th Annual Block Party on August 18th! This community event provides essential back to school needs to students and families, such as haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, and more. This free, no barrier, family-friendly event, is a celebration of the upcoming school year Let’s help provide supplies, so students don’t have to worry about not having what they need in the classroom and can instead focus on learning! ABOUT COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS Communities In Schools® (CIS®) was founded as a social justice organization over 40 years ago. Their purpose is to provide resources and supports for historically marginalized students to address inequalities prevalent in our educational system. At Communities In Schools, they believe that every student, regardless of race, gender, ability, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond. CIS walks by their side, in their communities, to challenge the systems and barriers that stand between them and their success in life. In Washington state, Communities in Schools, operate as a network of 11 independent affiliates, 3 emerging affiliates, and the CIS of Washington state office.
