On Thursday, May 7, local creative Zee Peralta will host The People of Phoenix — Seen. Felt. Heard., a public photography pop-up at Patriot’s Square at CityScape. The two-hour activation blends portrait photography with personal storytelling, offering community members the opportunity to have their photo taken and share a written affirmation or reflection.
Set against a downtown backdrop, the experience will capture raw, black-and-white portraits alongside messages like “I am...,” “I feel...,” and “I want to be seen as...,” creating an evolving visual narrative centered on mental health, belonging, and human connection.
In partnership with Valley Metro and Downtown Phoenix Inc., the activation aims to highlight the intersection of public space, accessibility, and emotional well-being—transforming a high-traffic urban setting into a moment of pause and presence.
The collected portraits and reflections may later contribute to a larger public art installation, amplifying real voices and lived experiences across Phoenix.
Why it matters:
At a time when conversations around mental health are more critical than ever, this activation offers a simple but impactful reminder: everyone deserves to be seen, felt, and heard.
