Visiting Poet Patricia Smith, "The Intentions of Thunder"
Patricia Smith -- Princeton professor, recipient of the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize for Lifetime Achievement, Pulitzer Prize finalist, National Book Award finalist, Guggenheim fellow, and author of nine acclaimed books of poetry -- is a "great stage performer and former national slam poetry champion" (Harvard Review) whose powerful and socially-conscious poems are "a testament to the power of words to change lives." She will rattle the windows, bring down the house, and lift our spirits.
She joins us to celebrate the release of "The Intentions of Thunder," an essential collection of poems from her decorated career.
