Village of Itasca to Host 16th Annual Green Day Recycling Event With Support From Dart Container

Itasca, IL – May 2, 2025 - Dart Container, a leading provider of sustainable foodservice packaging solutions, is proud to support the Village of Itasca’s 16th annual Green Day event by sponsoring foam recycling collection efforts. The event, held Saturday, May 3, offers local residents an easy, eco-friendly way to recycle a wide variety of household materials. Green Day is hosted by the Village of Itasca in partnership with Itasca Public Works, Itasca Police Department, Dart Container, Itasca Bank & Trust, Cool DuPage County, Republic Services, SCARCE, eWorks Electronics Services, ComEd, Working Bikes, ProShred and Fellowes. What: A free, drive-through community event for recycling and disposal of a wide range of household materials. Accepted items include: • Foam cups, containers and packaging (no packing peanuts) • Paper documents for shredding (limit: 5 boxes per car) • Electronics (limit: 1 CRT TV/monitor per car, 32” or smaller) • Scrap metal, cell phones, alarm clocks, cooking oil • Automotive batteries, used motor oil and antifreeze • Hearing aids, eyeglasses, prescription medications • Clothing buttons, fabric, safety pins • American flags for retirement • Bicycles (donated to Working Bikes) • School and office supplies, books • Electrical/computer cables, keyboards, routers, etc. Please note: Paint, household hazardous waste, and fluorescent lights will not be accepted. Rain barrels ordered in advance will be available for pickup at the event.
