The UC Santa Cruz Music Department presents Mozart’s iconic masterpiece, Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), performed in Italian with spoken dialogues in English by UCSC voice students and members of the UCSC Orchestra.
Set on an upstate New York estate in the 1920s, Figaro is adapted for this special production, slightly abridged, and with dialogues translated from the original Beaumarchais play by UCSC faculty emeriti Sherwood Dudly and Miram Ellis. This masterwork contains some of the most moving, evocative, and humorous music in all of Mozart’s stage works.
Produced and directed by Sheila Willey
Conducted by Bruce Kiesling
Costumes designed by Brooke Jennings
Hair and makeup by Sharon Ridge
Set and lighting design by Dave Dunning of Legend Theatrical
Presented by the UCSC Music Department with generous support from UCSC's Porter College.
