Enlisting in the US Naval Reserve after the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor, the Sullivan Brothers insisted on serving together on the same vessel, a commitment that tragically led to their collective loss on November 13, 1942, alongside 682 of their comrades aboard the Atlanta-class cruiser USS Juneau. This solemn moment stands as the greatest sacrifice made by any American family in our nation's history. Kelly Sullivan, a descendant of the youngest brother, Albert, will guide us through a personal journey, offering unique perspectives on the brothers' unwavering commitment to serving their country. We will explore recently-acquired artifacts and documents, learn about ongoing efforts to honor the Sullivan Brothers' memory, and highlight the service of other Iowans intricately tied to the Sullivan story and related events.
