EVERYONE is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, so bring family and friends to get into the spirit with a family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown, Tryon, NC!
In addition to seeing pipers, fiddlers, Irish dancers and singers, local dog owners are invited to bring their well-behaved “Paddy Pooches” dressed up in their Irish finest to march along in the Parade! The winner of the Best Dog Costume will win $100. Friendly canines and their parents can arrive at Rogers Park in Tryon around 4 pm to line up for the Parade.
Once the Parade has ended, there will be some Irish entertainment taking place on the public square in front of Tryon’s Clock Tower. “This is our second year in staging the Parade,” says Parade Co-Founder and Presenting Sponsor Peg Brunk. “I’m from Chicago and St. Patrick’s Day is a big celebration there, so we thought it would be fun to bring the party to the Foothills!” Co-Founder and local poet Greg Lobas (who is also a retired firefighter from the Cleveland, OH area) adds, “We’re happy to have so many groups join us in making this a great event that everyone can enjoy. This year, we’re celebrating some of the area’s non-profits that make this such a wonderful place to live and visit.”
The Parade will kick off at 4:30 pm on Friday, March 17 and attendees should plan to stay after the Parade to enjoy some downtown Tryon hospitality at the various eateries and stores that will remain open that evening. It will be an evening of good “Craic” -- Gaelic for “a good time,” and that means music, food, shopping, and of course, drink!
2023 Parade Presenting Sponsors are The Knights of Columbus Council 9492; Suzanne Devane of Asheville Realty Group; MDB Counseling Services; and, the Tryon Downtown Development Association. More details can be found on the Parade’s Facebook Page at: Tryon NC St Patrick’s Day Parade.
