On Monday, March 27, 2023, the St. Louis City Forestry Division will plant one hundred and two trees along Delmar Blvd, beginning at 10:00 am. Partners of this project include SLACO, Forest RELeaf, Vandeventer Community Development Corporation, Brightside, and AmeriCorps. We are looking for volunteers to work alongside residents and help pick up litter around the plant sites. On that day, we will work approximately one mile from Vandeventer to Boyle on Delmar Blvd for around two hours.
Volunteers are to gather at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at 10:00 am, 4300 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108, for tree assignments and to pick up tools and supplies. Volunteers will be encouraged to rest and snack at the church.
“Breaking the Delmar Divide” is a great community outreach event that benefits the entire city. Trees in urban areas are crucial for restoring this area from dormancy to vibrancy. It is a fact that trees provide shade for homes, reduce energy costs, remove air pollutants, reduce stormwater runoff, reduce mortality, and provide recreational and economic benefits for home and business owners.
