Diane Schenandoah is a contributing artist Each One Inspired: Indigenous Art Across the Homelands, an exhibit currently on view at the State Museum. This program will show how one of Schenandoah’s greatest gifts from the Creator, her ability to fashion clay and carve bone and stone into images, reflects her culture and community for a broader audience.
About the Presenter
Diane Schenandoah is a Faithkeeper of the Oneida Nation, Wolf Clan of the Six Nations Haudenosaunee Confederacy. She is an alumna of Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts and a graduate from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She was born and raised in upstate New York on the aboriginal homelands of the Oneida Nation.
A sculptor for almost 40 years, Schenandoah’s work is grounded in her culture and traditional Haudenosaunee teachings. She specializes in carving stone, clay, wood, antler, and bronze.
