We are proud to present our second annual interactive Touch the Art experience–where touching the art is allowed and encouraged! Enjoy interactive activities, meet the artists, dance party with live music, and sip unlimited themed mocktails/cocktails with a souvenir cup!
This year, Almost Real Things HQ will be fully transformed with installations and touchable pieces from 40+ artists.
The goal of Touch the Art is to create a more accessible art experience that caters to all of the different ways people engage with art. We're doing that by understanding how the deafblind community makes and sees art and translating that into a show where everyone feels welcome to participate.
A select group of artists, the “Touch the Art Collective,” were also chosen to work alongside Natalie Earhart, from Almost Real Things (ART) and students from the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) to build collaborative installations. Natalie has been coordinating alongside Gretchen Bettes, the TSBVI Arts Instructor who has worked with visually impaired students for almost 30 years, to lead artists through this 2-month experience.
Attendees will be fully immersed in an experience that evokes all of the senses!
Artwork for sale. Limited edition tactile merchandise. You can also visit throughout the run of the show (see dates below).
