Bill Ballas "Explorations" These explorations are recent works in oil and litho ink on canvas, wood and paper, and oil-based collages on illustration board and wood featuring metal elements. Tom Linker "Explorations" My work is influenced by the world around me and by the movements of Expressionism and Abstraction. Through the process of creating, these works become and ever changing thought, a continuous conversation between the artist and the art until they become a statement of their own. This exhibit Explorations is about my continuing exploring with traditional art media and combining them with my work and self-expression. Angela Larson "Just As It Is" I work with encaustic paint (beeswax, pigment and damar resin), applying several layers onto the surface, then scraping back and revealing, a process of construction and destruction. In this series, my references have been photos I have taken on trips in the mountains of distant colorful rock canyons, as well as close-up patterns created by worm trails. Kay Larson’s book “Where the Heart Beats, John Cage, Zen Buddhism, and the Inner Life of Artists” continues to be a source of inspiration. I also go back, again and again to Agnes Martin’s “Writings” and her art.
