Tickets Available for Meet-and-Greet Event with Civil Rights Pioneer Carlotta Walls LaNier
Fairfax Library Foundation is privileged to be hosting a V.I.P. meet-and-greet with civil rights icon, Carlotta Walls LaNier. This intimate, ticket-only fundraiser, sponsored by Fairfax Library Foundation will precede Fairfax County Public Library’s free author talk and booksigning with LaNier from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
LaNier was the youngest member of the Little Rock Nine, the group of African-American students whose successful 1957 effort to attend then-segregated Little Rock Central High School was a watershed event in the civil rights movement. Her memoir, “A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School,” was published in 2009.
Tickets for this V.I.P. fundraiser can be purchased online for $75 each at www.fairfaxlibraryfoundation.org/events. Ticketholders will enjoy light refreshments and face-to-face interaction with Ms. LaNier, along with special reserved seating at the main speaking event held afterward.
