DVAA is proud to host Through Our Eyes, an exhibition in Gallery 1 of works on paper by Linda Dubin Garfield includes work by four of her significant teachers and mentors - Moe Brooker, Carson Fox, Francine Shore and Christine Stoughton. This exhibition runs concurrently with the DVAA hosted exhibition in Gallery 2, For the Sake of Free Vision.
The fluid space of memory, influenced by time, place, and experience, forms the foundation of content for this series of work. Garfield merges aspects of observed experiences with imagined sensations to create work that reflects the delicately complicated, even at times tenuous, relationship between life and memory. Blending new materials and techniques with more traditional ones, she creates overlapping layers of color and space by exploring mark-making methods, incorporating monotype, silkscreen, stencil, image transfer, drawing, and digital imaging. Inspired by travel, she creates visual memoirs that allow multiple meanings to exist.
DVAA would like to thank our 2018 exhibition sponsors Seed&Space and DeFino Law Associates!
