Thirst

With the pending release of Chan-wook Park’s newest No Other Choice at the end of this year, now seems a good time to revisit his underseen 2009 vampire movie Thirst, which came between his early career breakthroughs (Joint Security Area, Oldboy) and his recent masterpieces (The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave). Parasite patriarch Song Kang-ho plays Father Sang-hyun, a Catholic priest who finds himself on the wrong end of a medical experiment which results in him contracting a deadly virus. After a blood transfusion, the virus is cured but leaves Fr. Sang-hyun a horny vampire, which is at odds with his Catholic beliefs and practices. Winner of the Jury Prize at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. In Korean with English subtitles. It is $8 for the general public; $7 for seniors, Webster alumni and students from other schools; $6 for Webster University staff and faculty; $0 for Webster students with proper ID.
