The Wedding Singer, the Musical!


Prepare to be transported back to the electrifying era of big hair, neon lights, and shoulder pads with VACT's captivating production of The Wedding Singer, the Musical. Performances are Thursday, January 18th, Friday, January 19th, and Saturday January 20th at 7:30pm, and Saturday, January 20th and Sunday, January 21st at 2:00pm, and will be held at the Verona Area High School Performing Arts Center, 234 Wildcat Way, Verona in Verona. In this non-stop, feel-good musical, Robbie Hart, the ultimate New Jersey wedding singer, is New Jersey's favorite party starter. With his signature mullet and infectious energy, he belts out classic 80s anthems, turning every wedding into an unforgettable night. However, when Robbie's own fiancée leaves him at the altar, his world is turned upside down. Enter Julia, a sweet and charming waitress who captures Robbie's heart, but is about to be married to a Wall Street shark. As their paths intertwine, Robbie must navigate his feelings for Julia while facing the complications of his job, his friends, and his dreams of rock stardom. The Wedding Singer, the Musical, is a celebration of love, laughter, and the power of music to bring people together. With its catchy songs, witty dialogue, and endearing characters, this production will leave you nostalgic for the 80s and feeling good all over. Don't miss your chance to experience this electrifying musical sensation! VACT’s production features a cast of over 50 adult performers from the Verona and Madison areas. The Wedding Singer is directed by Jay Gile, with Music Direction by Dr. J. Adam Shelton, and Choreography by Lyn Pilch and Carolyn Stoughton. Dale Nickels is the producer, with costumes by Craig Schlagel, Stage Manager Chris Diorio, lighting design by Zak Stowe, and set design by Rachel Erickson. Tickets are $17 for adults, and $14 for seniors 65 years and older and students, and can be purchased through the VACT website at www.vact.org or at the door. Director Jay Gile said, “The Wedding Singer is a story about finding your way and accepting love in all forms.” Jay added, “This cast has worked so hard and radiates this message every chance they get. This is an exciting and dynamic show that audiences will leave feeling energized and fulfilled.” This production has some mature language and content (PG-13) and has a run time of approximately 2 hours, with an intermission.
