The Washing Machine Project Brings Its “Washout” Experience Tour to Judd & Black Appliances Everett

The Judd & Black Appliances Everett Washout Experience will help shine a light on the global burden of handwashing clothes for those without access to reliable water and electricity and how it disproportionately affects women and girls, with more than 60 percent of the world relying on washing clothes by hand. The Washing Machine Project supported by Whirlpool Foundation is tackling this issue head-on by assembling and distributing the Divya Washing Machine, a manual washing machine that allows users to wash clothes without electricity or a connected water source. At the Washout Experience, guests will learn more about this critical initiative and experience firsthand what it's like to wash clothes by hand, how long it takes, how much water is required, the physical toll it can have on the body and more. Guests can also try out a Divya Washing Machine, which can save users up to 75% of the time compared to hand washing clothes and can reduce water usage by up to 50%. All guests who visit the Washout Experience may also take home a free laundry bag and clothespins while supplies last courtesy of The Washing Machine Project supported by Whirlpool Foundation. The Washing Machine Project supported by Whirlpool Foundation has a goal to deliver 10,000 manual washing machines to communities and households across the world in five years.
