The Walnut Street Theatre comes to Rydal Park! Having celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2009, The Walnut is the oldest theatre in America and considered a National Historic Landmark. The theatre opened its doors in 1809 as an equestrian circus and was later converted into a legitimate theatre in 1812. In attendance at the first theatrical production were President Thomas Jefferson and the Marquis de Lafayette. More recently, in 1982, The Walnut became a self-producing, non-profit regional theatre. Experience a fun, entertaining group of actors bring some of the world's favorite pieces to life. Surprises abound!
