The Puranas are part of India’s rich and wise literary heritage orally passed on and finally
written down between 500 BCE and 3000 BCE. A series of ancient authors used metaphoric
storytelling to articulate knowledge of Presence, of IAM, of Stillness, of True Nature, of Now,
and to communicate the Self-evident experience of the unitive state of Being. The Atma Gita,
The God Song, is from the Srimad Bhagavatum Purana. An early verse in it states:
“Oh man seek you the highest goal, reading or singing this song every day.
True understanding you will attain as misunderstanding fades away.”
Come and listen to the timeless wisdom of the Atma Gita. You will be given a lyric sheet to read
or sing from. Participate. Take this venerable, 30-minute song into your mind and heart.
Meditate upon it. Consider it and mull over its relativity to the world you live in right Now.
Les Julian has meditated and studied with many great masters for the last 50 years. He is a
certified Yoga Nidra (conscious Yogic sleep) teacher. A musician and performer, his CDs have
won many national awards including The American Library Association Notable Recording. One
of his songs appears on a recent compilation CD which won a Grammy Award.
