The State of Housing

Like many regions across the country, Northern Virginia is confronting a housing affordability crisis that is making it increasingly difficult to attract and retain the workforce our economy needs to compete and thrive in a global marketplace. As demand grows, addressing these challenges is more urgent than ever On April 29, the Loudoun Chamber will bring together federal and regional experts to discuss solutions that increase the supply of attainable housing in Virginia and Loudoun. This event, part of the 2026 PolicyMaker Series, will feature a keynote presentation by Dennis Shea, Executive Vice President and Chair of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center, and Eric Keeler, Director of Loudoun County’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), who will offer insights on housing policy and its importance to our communities at large. A panel of distinguished experts will follow, discussing how market-rate and attainable housing can create vibrant, thriving communities in Loudoun. Featured Panelists: Paul Bernard, President & CEO, Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) Kim Hart, Managing Member, Good Housing VA Don Knutson, President, The Knutson Companies Jill Norcross, Executive Director, Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA)
