The Revolutionary Stage: An Interactive Evening of Education and Performance at Schuyler Mansion
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site invites the public to attend an evening of history and theater inside the mansion, from 5:30-7:15 pm. This event is free, but advance registration is required.
The Revolutionary Stage is an interactive evening of education and performance. Join Rachel Stewart of Troy’s Scripts & Sips in the historic Schuyler Mansion for a short presentation on the history of theatre and performance in Albany on the eve of the Revolution to the Federal period. Following the presentation, guests may volunteer to read aloud from selections from Royall Tyler’s “The Contrast,” (1787), the first professionally produced play written by an American.
Light refreshments will be served in the Visitor Center prior to the presentation.

Schuyler Mansion is located at 32 Catherine Street in Albany’s historic South End. As the home of Major General Philip J. Schuyler, it served as the Albany Headquarters for the Northern Department of the Continental Army at the outset of the American Revolutionary War.
