The Other Side of Silence Opera at RPI
Opera is synonymous with the power of the human voice. In The Other Side of Silence, art and technology harmonize to raise up voices and tell more inclusive stories.
Through the partnership of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Opera Saratoga, and the Bergamot Quartet, this workshop performance explores how music and innovation can further equity, advocacy, and agency for people with disabilities.
Created by Mark Steidl, RPI faculty fellow Katherine Skovira, and RPI lecturer Robert Whalen, The Other Side of Silence draws on Steidl’s experience as gender non-binary person who uses an augmentative and alternative communication device to talk with the world.
