The Music of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Al Jarreau The Dave Banks Big Band
An incredible evening of music is in store for you at BluJazz in Akron March 22nd. The Dave Banks Big Band features Stanley Davis as he performs the music from legends Sammy Davis Jr., and Al Jarreau! It would be Sammy Davis's 100th birthday this year and his library of songs, from "Candy Man," to "What Kind of Fool Am I" displayed the amazing range of styles he possessed. Al Jarreau had the unique ability to deliver a lyric in a most unique way, blending scat with lyric command. His songs, from the toe tapping "Boogie Down" to his incredible version of "Take Five" to his ballad styling of "Teach Me Tonight", all bring a little something new each time you hear them. You will also hear some great selections from the music of Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Bill Chase, Steely Dan, Bill Watrous, and more! What an evening!
