The Living Room Story-time for Grownups

The Living Room Story-time for Grownups host, Amparo Garcia-Crow is an actress, playwright-director, songwriter and former UT/ ACC teaching artist professor founded The Living Room Story-time in 2007. She combines her background to support the diverse storytellers to develop and present their life stories about love, sex, health, death and spiritual transformation. A specific theme umbrellas the stories and it varies monthly, guiding the narrators to make sense of the past. Audiences are invited to relate, experience empathy and engage in all kinds of possible futures. The storytellers are diverse in different backgrounds and ages. The gathering happens every first Saturday of the month. Live music often accompanies the stories. Amparo offers a free lunch time HOW TO TELLL YOUR STORY TO A LIVE AUDIENCE workshop that provides attendees prompts to “play at” telling a true story about their lives. No preparation is needed, just a willingness to explore what story or stories arise when given a random topic. Participants are not required to sign up for the public event. The idea is to enjoy the impromptu stories that are shared. The workshop aims to meet every third Wednesday of each month for the workshop, assuming the the library(The TWIN OAKS LIBRARY on South Fifth) is open and available.
