“The Hebrews” is a documentary project focused on the Hebrew & Jewish literary canon. The series offers film portraits of Hebrew writers and Jewish authors, from the 17th century to the present. 18 feature-length documentary films have been completed in the project so far. Yair Qedar, the project founder, along with 12 other Israeli film directors have produced films that have premiered in film festivals, aired on television, and screened in hundreds of theatres, cinematheques, and community and cultural centers, in Israel and around the world, earning 22 awards to date.
There will be a discussion directly after each screening with filmmaker, Yair Qedar.

Yair Qedar is an Israeli documentary filmmaker, social activist, and former journalist. In his project The Hebrews, he chronicles the lives of Jewish and Israeli figures of the modern Hebrew literary canon. Qedar's 19 feature-length documentaries have all premiered at film festivals and have won the director over 30 prizes. Qedar is also a leading LGBTQ activist. He created several Queer films and the first Israeli LGBTQ newspaper.
