Detroit, MI – The Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series continues with a soul-stirring evening honoring one of jazz’s most influential guitarists, Grant Green. On Monday, September 29, 2025, the legendary Aretha’s Jazz Café will come alive with The Jerome Clark Band leading a powerful tribute performance. The night will open with the enchanting vocals of Sky Covington and be guided by the wit and charm of beloved host Mike Bonner.
Tickets are available now for $35. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:30 PM.
About Grant Green
Grant Green (1935–1979) was a pioneering jazz guitarist whose unique sound combined blues, bebop, soul, and gospel influences. Born in St. Louis, Green rose to prominence in the 1960s through his work with Blue Note Records, where he became one of the most recorded artists in the label’s history. Known for his fluid, melodic phrasing and unmistakable groove, Green’s playing bridged the gap between hard bop and soul-jazz, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire generations of musicians. His signature works include Idle Moments, Green Street, and Grantstand.
