The Drop That Contained the Sea
As the title of this beautiful contemporary work suggests, Christopher Tin brings to life the realization of a Sufi concept: just as a single drop of water contains the essence of the entire ocean, inside every human being is the essence of all humanity. Tin says, “Each movement is inspired by water in a different form, arranged in the order that water flows through the world: melting snow, mountain streams, rivers, the ocean, and so forth. Each of the 10 movements is sung in a different language, exploring different vocal traditions.”
Join the Sno-King Community Chorale under the direction of Dustin Willetts, featuring guest soloists and our newly formed 50+ member Salish Sea Orchestra. We will be sharing the stage with Kulshan Chorus (Bellingham), Cantabile Chamber Choir (Mt. Vernon), and Bellevue High School Chorale and Treble Ensemble.
