The Capital Region Blues Network Presents “Blues in the Schools” Benefit Concert On Sunday, May 18 at 2:00pm at the Hangar on the Hudson, 675 River Street, Troy, NY the Capital Region Blues Network (CRBN), presents a a fund-raising event to benefit our "Blues in the Schools" program. CRBN provides school districts, BOCES, special education programs and after-school programs with educational classes delivered by regional and nationally recognized blues artists. Blues In The Schools classes can meet the needs of every age range from pre-school to pre-college. CRBN provides this service at no cost to the schools. The event features the Amy Ryan Band whose latest album "Brighter and Brighter" recently entered the Roots Music Reports Blues Chart at #20 alongside the likes of modern blues masters such as Tommy Castro and Janiva Magness. ARB will be joined by several special guests including, for the first time live, a horn section! Opening the show will be Mark and Jill who meld their vision and talent for a taste of New Orleans meets Austin. NY Blues Hall of Fame bluesman Mark Tolstrup and sultry Texas singer Jill Burnham come together where the Delta meets the Rio Grande. As a special treat for us, Mark and Jill will add bass and drums for part of their set. The event will feature a silent auction with some great blues-related items, a 50-50 raffle and opportunities to learn more about the work of CRBN and sign up for membership. Doors open at 2pm. Mark and Jill will hit the stage at 2.30pm with the Amy Ryan Band performing at 3.45pm. “The future of blues music resides with the next generation so our Blues in the Schools program is fundamental to our mission of preserving blues heritage and expanding awareness of the blues” says Richard Green, President of the Capital Region Blues Network and guitarist with the Amy Ryan Band. “We’re excited to present this show which will contribute to the financial stability of the program and also promises to be a fun musical experience.” General admission tickets are available in advance for $20 (plus fees) via https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-capital-region-blue-network-blues-in-the-schools-fundraiser-tickets-1333516356319?aff=oddtdtcreator. Tickets will be available on the door for $25. All proceeds benefit Blues in the Schools. The Capital Region Blues Network (CRBN) is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation whose mission is “To preserve blues heritage, celebrate blues recording and performance, expand worldwide awareness of the blues, and ensure the future of this uniquely American art form.” Although focused on the metropolitan area surrounding Albany, New York, the Capital Region Blues Network serves an extensive geographic region that includes Western Massachusetts to the east, the Catskills to the west, the Adirondacks to the north and the lower reaches of the Upper Hudson Valley.
