The Awesome Gallery welcomes Matt Yoho’s Alright So Far Exhibit

The Awesome Gallery is proud to present Alright So Far, a solo exhibition featuring fourteen years of work by Columbus-based multi-disciplinary artist Matt Yoho. The public is invited to an artist reception on Saturday, April 11, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and the exhibition will remain on view through May 30, 2026. Alright So Far is a culmination of work spanning from 2012 to the present, drawing together Yoho's explorations in painting, printmaking, and ink-and-mixed-media portraiture. The exhibition invites viewers into the recurring themes that have defined his practice: Catholicism, the mind's interpretation of the thoughts and ideas it creates, and the deeply human questions of embodiment and connection — both to ourselves and to something greater. Yoho grew up in rural north-central West Virginia, raised in a holler, which is defined as a small, sheltered valley typically located between two steep hills or mountains in the Appalachian region and rural South, and has been making art for as long as he can remember. He got serious about his practice around 2000 and has been living and working in Columbus, Ohio, since 2007, showing work in galleries and pop-up art events around the city since 2012. "The brilliant ridges, the dark hollers, and everything in between has gone into this work," shares Yoho. "It's all here, reflected in paint and ink." The works on view range from bold, graphic painted pieces — characterized by stark contrasts and raw emotional energy — to intimate, gestural ink portraits that reveal form through shadow and negative space. Together, they chart an honest and searching artistic journey. “I met Matt at Morning Creatives, The Awesome Gallery’s monthly gathering for neurodivergent artists to create and connect,” says Jacquie Mahan, owner of The Awesome Gallery. “He's one of the quietest people in the room and one of the boldest voices on canvas. His work says the things most of us don't have the courage to share.” The Awesome Gallery space is adjacent to The Awesome Company, located at 3400 Southwest Blvd, Grove City, OH 43123. The public is invited to an artist reception for Alright So Far on Saturday, April 11, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, with the exhibition remaining on view through May 30, 2026.
