The Alvarado Hotel "Arches and Artistry"

Matt Kluge is an architectural designer and huge rail fan with a side passion for Fred Harvey history. His interest in the Harvey Company began while watching "The Harvey Girls," a Judy Garland movie, with his grandparents. While he is primarily focused on the architecture and history of the Harvey hotels, Matt's research touches on all aspects of Fred Harvey and the Santa Fe Railway. He has given lectures on various Fred Harvey operations in New Mexico, including those located in Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. The Alvarado Hotel was one of the finest hotels in Albuquerque, within the Harvey Company. Matt's presentation will cover the history of Harvey's operations in Albuquerque from the arrival of the Santa Fe Railroad in 1880 to the 1960s. The presentation is FREE. There are only 80 seats so arrive early. The presentation will be shown later on our website: albuqhistsoc.org and also on YouTube. There is free parking at the museum and free admission if you tell the front desk that you are attending the AHS presentation. The auditorium is behind the front desk, and to the left.
