Terme di Caracalla Opera Summer 2012

The large auditorium of the Caracalla Thermal Baths rich of 3,500 places – immersed in the wonderful archaeological site unique in the world for its history, charm and beauty – will reopen its doors to the 2012 Summer Season organized by the Roman Teatro dell'Opera on June 30. As always it will be an event that will offer high quality musical performances to the lovers of opera, ballet, symphonic music, the public Roma Capitale, but also to the thousands of tourists which every year, and evermore numerous as of a couple of seasons, crowd the landmark space. Last year the program of Caracalla drew 50 000 spectators, this year two different paths of artistic offers will certainly exceed this number (already a record in the history of Caracalla's programs).Respect of the monument, of its history and the use of the wonderful natural set. In fact, the two operas in the playbill, titles much loved by the general public, are Norma of Vincenzo Bellini (from July 21 to August 8, at 21) and Attila of Giuseppe Verdi (from July 31 to August 7, at 21). And great cast on stage: for the Verdi opera Dario Solari (applauding Macbeth in opening of season to the Teatro Costanzi) returns as Ezio, Orlin Anastassov will be the protagonist and Lucrezia Garcia will play the role of Odabella. Two marvellous voices with international reputation, that of Julianna di Giacomo and of Carmela Remigio, will give life to Norma and Adalgisa, next to Fabio Sartori's Pollione.
