Tenors, Tuxedos, and Stalactites

Marble City Opera kicks off its twelfth season on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. with a concert titled Tenors, Tuxedos, and Stalactites. The performance will be inside Historic Cherokee Caverns, where the temperature is always 58° and the acoustics are excellent. Tickets for the concert are $25 and are on sale now at MarbleCityOpera.com/tickets. Cody Boling, John Overholt, and Chris Plaas will sing a program of opera and musical theater favorites. The tenors will be accompanied by music director Brandon Coffer. Boling recently performed as “Murray” and Overholt as “Broom” in Marble City Opera’s world premiere of The Doctor and the Devils. Plaas sang the role of “Tinca” in Marble City Opera’s site-specific performances of Il Tabarro. Historic Cherokee Caverns is located at 8524 Oak Ridge Highway in Knoxville. The caverns are preserved and maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers. The cave is only open for special events including Marble City Opera’s concerts, classic family movies, Trick or Treat in the Cave, and Christmas in the Cave. This will be the third time that Marble City Opera has presented a concert inside Cherokee Caverns. Social media comments after last year’s concert included, “What a wonderful and truly unique experience,” and “This was so fun!”
