Temple Rodef Shalom Presents: Day of Learning 2025
Temple Rodef Shalom invites the community to spend an inspiring afternoon of study, connection, and creativity at this year’s Day of Learning: Celebrating “Bereshit/Creation” on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12:00 – 5:00 PM. Drawing on the Torah’s opening portion, Bereshit, the program explores how stories of creation and beginnings can guide us in shaping meaningful new opportunities in our own lives.
The day begins with a light kiddush luncheon followed by a rich lineup of workshops and experiences:
1:00 – 2:00 PM Workshops: Choose from three engaging sessions—Cantor Allen Leider on navigating life’s transitions, Chris and Nicole Gardner on TRS’s new digital archive, or Elianna Cooper from Jews United for Justice on regional social justice advocacy.
2:15 – 3:15 PM Featured Lecture: Dr. Gary Rendsburg, Rutgers professor and renowned biblical scholar, presents “Reading Creation: Text and Theology in Genesis 1,” highlighting the innovations and enduring lessons of the Torah’s opening verses.
3:30 – 5:00 PM Cooking Demonstration: Jessica Porrazzo DeMarco shares simple, delicious recipes—including Farro Vegetable Salad, Hummus Dip with pita, and Zucchini Bread—with tastings for all participants.
Guests are also welcome at TRS’s Parallel Shabbat Service at 10:30 AM, which concludes in time for the luncheon and learning to begin.
