Takeover Tuesday: Kimmy Bazan of El Veneno
Her pop-up Mexican streeet food concept has evolved into one of Charlotte’s most beloved food trucks, and with good reason. El Veneno's food is known for being flavorful and fun, earning them a spot on Eater’s Best Restaurants in Charlotte list as well as Unpretentious Palate’s Food Truck of the Year Award in 2025. They’ve also stolen the hearts of many who believe that they are making the best tacos in the QC.
The mouthwatering menu for this Takeover is an elevated extension of El Veneno’s food truck fare—still playful in tone, still serious in execution. There is only a single seating for this Takeover; seats are limited.
ABOUT TAKEOVER TUESDAYS
Takeover Tuesdays highlights emerging culinary talent in the Charlotte area by giving local chefs the chance to use the L’Ostrica kitchen and dining room for one night. Geared primarily toward chefs without a brick-and-mortar location, it offers them a chance to create and serve a special menu in a different setting. We’ll give them as much help as they want to execute, but the night is meant to be about their ideas, traditions, and perspectives.

One - FRIED QUESADILLA - Espazote. Caviar. Pickled mustard seed.
Two - CAMARONES A LA DIABLA - Shrimp. Chile pepper sauce. Black rice.
Three - SPARE RIB TACO - Braised pork spare rib. Tomatillo. Purslane.
Four - TUNA TOSTADA* - Sashimi grade tuna. Avocado. Salsa negra.
Five - CHAMORRO DE CORDERO - Tender lamb shank. Mole negro.
Six - TRES LECHES CAKE - Sponge cake. Tres leches. Poached fruit. Whipped cream.
