An Ocean Apart- A look at the interconnectedness of the health of our oceans and daily lives, livelihoods, and lifestyles, presented by Dr. Rick Spinrad, NOAA Administrator.
The ocean is our lifeblood. It provides us with critical sources of food and jobs. It helps distribute heat across our planet, controls weather patterns, and has absorbed 90% of the warming that has occurred in recent decades due to increasing greenhouse gasses.
Yet, our ocean and coastlines do not have an infinite capacity to support lives, livelihoods and lifestyles if we don’t do our part to keep them healthy. Join Dr. Rick Spinrad, Undersecretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and the 11th NOAA Administrator, for a conversation about the state of ocean health and how NOAA is working to protect biodiversity, support marine industries, and spur climate readiness in communities across the country.
Sunrise Science events are free, but registration is required.
